Laci and snowkiting
The newest Horsefeathers teamrider Laci Kobulský is sharing his experience how to deal with the lack of snow in your area and have some fun at the same time.
“Lack of snow, work and girlfriend lead me this winter to fascinating country of Switzerland. First, I visited my friends in Gstaad (video below) and Laax (video below) and than my boss from summer (I work in a Swiss kite school in Egypt) asked me to come to Bernina Pass (close to St. Moritz) and help him with snowkiting. First I wasn’t enthusiastic, because my passion in winter is snowboarding, but when he added free skipass to whole Engadin area, the deal was made :)
Days I spend in Corvatch snowpark are great of course, but most of the time I spend with snowkite job. First I was afraid than it will s*ck too much: cold, wind, deep snow… eww. But after few good sessions I starrted to like it a lot! The cold was a big fear of mine, most of the snowkiters have fancy expencive looking one-pieces, and I was in my shred HF outfit. But I have to congratulate Horsefeather for doing a great job! I never felt cold or anything AND I don’t look super gay like other kiters :D I mean imagine it: You are snowboarding in powder on unused mountain, and you have a special power to go anywhere you want and jump anytime you want!
What I really like about snowkiting is the ability to combine snowboarding and kiteboarding and play with a various terrain, both natural and man-made. When I see a small wind lip, I use it as a halfpipe. Where others see just a bench, I see a cool jib feature! Highlight of my snowkiting was, when a Czech rider and friend of mine Murphy visited the spot and we went on a street rail. There was a long handrail on a top of the dam and boy, we had a fun on it :)
What I really like about snowkiting is, that it is relatively new and I can bring a lot of stuff from snowboarding into it. Most of the guys now are just trying to fly high while forgeting about style, and this is when the Laci comes in the game haha :) ”
